what is earthquake???

Release of energy waves called seismic waves in the crust of earth, leads to the creation of a natural disaster called earthquake. Earthquakes can be recorded using an instrument called as seismometer. Richter scale is used to represent magnitude and intensity of earthquakes. Those earthquakes which show reading of 3 on Richter scale are usually not harmful as such, but earthquakes which show reading of 7 or more are extremely harmful. So, more the scale of reading more harmful is the earthquake.

earthquakeThe origin point of seismic waves is called epicenter of earthquake. If epicenter is located near the sea then it can cause the creation of Tsunami waves. Earthquakes lead to severe shaking of earth’s surface, landslides etc. Earthquakes are generally results of natural phenomena like geological stress, volcanic eruptions, landslides etc but earthquakes can also be induced by some human activities like mine blasts and nuclear experimentation etc. the first rupture point of earthquake is called focus hypocenter and epicenter is the point at ground level exactly above the hypocenter.
Naturally occurring earthquakes and earthquake storms
Those earthquakes which occur due to some natural phenomena are generally more intensified and harmful. These Tectonic earthquakes can occur just anywhere in earth where enough elastic strain energy is stored to conduct fracture propagation at a fault plane. There are basically 3 types of faults, which cause creation of the earthquakes- reverse, strike-slip and normal. Reason of a certain displacement decides the intensity of the earthquakes. Earthquakes are classified as extreme destruction source of nature because an exact warning can’t be extracted about earthquakes. Even sometimes earthquakes can hit a region in a series. In this situation one new earthquake gets triggered due to displacement, shaking or stress induction by previous strike of earthquake. This situation is called earthquake storm. This is extremely detrimental for human life and property.
Impacts of earthquakes
Impacts of earthquakes can be classified into various classes-
ground-ruptureGround rupture- It is the main result of an earthquake strike. Shaking of ground causes severe damage to the buildings or other structures on the ground including houses etc. Shaking of ground at a particular place depends upon the distance of that place from the epicenter. Severe shaking of ground causes destruction of all the buildings of a city and many people die by burring into the building materials.
It can’t be avoided because earthquakes strike a place all of a sudden. So this shaking of ground compels construction engineering to develop buildings which are resistive to the strikes of earthquakes. The branch of engineering deals which deals with anti-earthquake construction is called Earthquake construction.
Landslides- Earthquakes causes instability of land results into landslides; this claims many lives at the effected zone.
Fire- Earthquake causes breaking of electrical power lines or gas supply lines which causes incidents of fires. Water lines also got ruptured and decreased pressure makes it impossible to control the spread of fire. In earthquake of San Francisco in 1906, more deaths happened because of fire as compared to earthquake itself.
Soil liquefaction- When severe shaking occur then soil or sand loses their strength for a temporary period and gets converted from solid to liquid. This liquefaction causes sinking of buildings, bridges etc.
Tsunami and floods- when epicenter of an earthquake is located near sea, then the traveling of seismic waves below the sea causes generation of Tsunami waves, which can ravel at a speed of 600-800 kilometers per hour. For creation of Tsunami earthquakes are needed to be highly intensified. In general earthquakes having reading of less then 7.5 on the Richter scale are not able to generate Tsunami waves. But stronger earthquakes can are comfortable enough to create Tsunamis. Sometimes when earthquake triggered landslides fall into sea, it leads to the creation of Tsunami waves.
Earthquake Construction
earthquake-constructionIt is defined as the branch of the modern architectural engineering, having major concern of making structures which can withstand a severe earthquake shock. This branch of engineering is earning major concerns by countries like Japan, Chine, Turkey, Algeria and other countries near boundaries of tectonic plates. Because these areas of world are much more susceptible to strikes of earthquakes and major steps are necessary to avoid the destruction of human life and infrastructure.

Harry has finally come of age, and finally started on his final journey to defeat Voldemort for good. The Dursely’s are forced to go into hiding so that Voldemort’s Death Eaters will not torture them for information, and Harry sets off with Ron and Hermione on a difficult quest to find and destroy the last of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Only once those have been destroyed, Harry knows, can Voldemort truly be killed.

It’s not easy. Harry is plagued with rumors of Dumbledore’s past, and begins to wonder if the Headmaster he so long revered might have had a much darker past than he ever let on. The three are frequently without food, and with winter coming their journey is no day at the beach. Because of their lack of plan, lack of food, and lack of progress, their spirits are often low, and Ron especially becomes argumentative. One night he and Harry get into an epic fight and Ron leaves to go back home.

Harry and Hermione are devastated that he’d abandoned them. They finally decide to revisit Godric’s Hollow in search of clues, and once again they’re almost caught by Voldemort. Every step they make, it seems, he is there anticipating them. They’ve almost died too many times to count, and their spirits sink even lower when Harry discovers his wand was broken in the battle.

Ron redeems himself a few weeks later by coming back and saving Harry’s life in the nick of time. They manage to destroy another Horcrux with Gryffindor’s sword, and they become excited again as they begin to learn about a mysterious trio of magical objects called the Deathly Hallows. Whomever possesses the three objects will be a master of death, and to Harry, it’s his one chance to beat Voldemort and live to tell the tale.

As his adventures and the danger he’s in increases, Harry begins to truly understand what Dumbledore intended him to do. He realizes, almost at the last minute, that his own life will have to be sacrificed in order for Voldemort to truly be vanquished. Filled with love for his friends, he willingly gives his life so that they may live.

His last act of heroism, however, saves his life. He meets Dumbledore again in death, and Dumbledore answers many of his questions. He is given a choice to stay or to go back, and he chooses to go back and fight.

It’s all over between Harry and Voldemort with just one spell. Harry is left alive, the true master of the Hallows, and Voldemort is killed for good. He now understands more than he ever has about love (which he loves Ginny), and life, and sacrifice, and in spite of the loss of many of his friends during the last battle, is grateful for the second chance he’s been given at life, and love.

Harry can’t believe it. The Weasley’s have invited him to the Quidditch World Cup, which means he’ll get to leave the Dursley’s house early and go see a game that anyone would kill to see.

The game is intense, but not just because of the stellar players and non-stop action. Voldemort’s servants, the Death Eaters, make an appearance and the wizarding world is shocked when Voldemort’s sign appears in the sky after the game.

When Harry, Ron, and Hermione finally make it back to Hogwarts a few weeks later, they’re shocked to find that the school will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament this year. It’s a competition between the three wizarding schools of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons. A champion is chosen for each school and competes in very difficult challenges that test their skill and daring.

When the students from the other schools arrive in October, the students begin putting their name in the Goblet of Fire in order to be chosen as their school's champion. Harry is shocked beyond belief when, in spite of his inability to compete because of his age, he’s chosen as the fourth school champion.

What’s even worse is that Ron doesn’t believe that Harry didn’t put his name in the goblet. They get into a huge fight, and Ron stops talking to Harry. The rest of Hogwarts is also incensed that Harry is "looking for more fame", and the only person who stands by Harry’s side is Hermione.

In the tournament, the first task of fighting dragons goes great for Harry, and what’s even better is that it convinces Ron that Harry was telling the truth all along, and they become friends again.

As the school year progresses Harry is beset with troubles. Snooping journalist, Rita Skeeter, continues to publish gossipy articles about Harry that alienate him from the rest of the school, he’s turned down by his crush, Cho Chang, when he asks her to the Yule Ball, and in the days leading up to the second task of the tournament, which involves retrieving something important from the bottom of a lake filled with mer-people, he almost doesn’t find a way to accomplish what he’s got to do. Saved at the last minute, however, Harry again gets almost full marks and is tied for first place.

Sirius returns to keep an eye on Harry, as well as the mysterious happenings that keep taking place at Hogwarts. There is someone at the school who wants Harry dead, but no one knows who it is.

During the final task of the tournament, Harry and Cedric both tie for first place, but as soon as they grasp the winner's cup, they are transported to a creepy graveyard where Cedric is immediately killed and Harry tied up by Wormtail. He witnesses Voldemort’s return to power, and barely makes it back to Hogwarts alive, clutching Cedric’s body.

When he gets back he discovers that "Professor Moody",the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, was the traitor all along. He’s a magically disguised Death Eater who risked everything to kidnap Harry for Lord Voldemort. Harry tells Dumbledore what happened with Voldemort, and although the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, doesn’t believe Harry, Professor Dumbledore begins to take steps to mobilize against Voldemort.

my first guitar

At first i know nothing about guitar. I was first know about guitar when i was 12 years old. It was kinda funny when my parents give me guitar as my present for my 12th birthday. That night we were celebrating my birthday on 26th October 2003. my parents knew that i am crazy about having a guitar of my own but what they did not know is that i have no clue on how to play a guitar. But i take the guitar as one of my precious present.
since i don't even know how to play a guitar, so i am started to get annoyed with my guitar. i started ti kicked it or hit it with pillow because i am so damn annoyed n stress out by just looking at it. but then, i started to learn slowly. I take my time and day by day i can strummed the guitar quite okay already. By the end of my primary year, a learned how to composed song already and now, i even write my own lyrics. It is kinda fun and very interesting once we have known how to play a guitar.
Well, the truth is, i am very grateful that my parents bought me that guitar for my 12th birthday. I am so glad that i learn to play the guitar and now, playing or strumming a guitar is one of my passion. It is my best hobby ever. It is not a waste of time and it is definitely a good things for my parents since i did not get involved with bad stuffs.
Anyway that is all for my guitar story. :P

Ever since I began working for that Orlando Florida Vacation home site I have been plagued by recurring nightmares. I am haunted at night by the spirits of hotel rooms past.

There was a time when I traveled quite a bit on business. Thankfully, I don't hotels hop any more. But at night I float off to a hotel room far away in time...

The day's work done, I checked some emails and phoned home to check up on the kids. It seems there was a shouting match going on at the other end of the line. It sounded like Pandemonium was winning, but Total Bedlam was making some noise, too. I sensed that Chaos could not be far behind.

"Could you please just quiet down a minute?" I said into the phone.

"Shut up, yourself!" I heard the man in the next room growl.

I chose to ignore the peanut gallery. "Come on guys. Can't you just stop fighting for a second?"

"I'll show you what fighting means" I heard through the wall.

"Geeze. I can't even here myself think," I complained into the phone.

"Hey! I've had just about enough of you," the guy on the other side of the wall screamed.

Suddenly I got frightened. I envisaged a burly, eight-foot-two sumo wrestler smashing his fist through the wall. I hung up the phone, wondering how thin the walls were.

Oh, oh. Was This The End? Stay Tuned...

Nothing happened. No fist. No smashed wall. No burly, eight-foot-two sumo wrestler.

I decided to head downstairs for a much-needed stress-relief stroll. As I was locking my door, the man from the next room emerged from his room, too.

Fortunately, he was no sumo wrestler.

I was about to ask him why he had heckled me through the thinner-than-toilet-paper wall while I was trying to discipline my pandemonium at home, when he called to me, "Hey you. I was on my email-to-phone service with my wife. Why did you have to heckle me through my emailversation?"

All of a sudden, I knew how thin the walls were. And they did not even come close to toilet paper. Over time, I discovered that hotel room walls come in two thicknesses:

With any luck, you can get "Turn down the volume on your TV!" walls. If you are less fortunate, you get "Turn down the brightness on your TV!" walls.

Fortunately, hotel rooms are immaculately clean. It's true. The sign says so. Just as long as you don't look under the mattress to find a 1976 copy of Businessweek Magazine and theatre tickets to a 1982 showing of The Music Man.

I don't know why hotels pretend to be so spotless. All that junk under the bed could be used as a marketing tool. "Stay at the Hilltop Hilton and join in our under-mattress-scavenger-hunt."

If the hotels don't catch on, sooner or later the motels will. They can turn anything into a sales pitch. Like, for example, "Color TV" (Ooooooohh.). And "Outdoor Pool" (I think the "outdoor" feature is a nice added touch, don't you?) And how about "Free Parking" (which is really a way of saying, "You don't have to park your car in your room.").

Why Does God Care About Hotel Rooms?

What worries me most about hotels is what they keep in the drawers. Did you ever notice there is always a bible in the drawer? Why?

When you buy a car, there is no bible in the glove compartment, although the road is where you need prayers the most.

When you excavate the Cracker Jack prize, it's never a bible.

Even in hospitals, where a prayer might be all you can hope for these days, there is no bible in the drawer.

Only in hotels and on death row do bibles come as standard equipment. (Not even in churches!)

And why just the Bible? I have had plenty of spare time to search for Torahs and Korans in hotel rooms, and I have yet to find one. Do Jews and Muslims not stay in hotels? What do they know that I don't?

Fortunately, I don't have to stay in hotels anymore. I don't have to endure shadow-puppet shows from the guy on the other side of the wall. I don't have to keep from reading over his shoulder. I don't have worry about what he ate for dinner.

And I don't have to listen to his snoring. I can enjoy my own nightmares in peace.
